Joint Commissioner of Police Vivek Gogia and some senior officials also met with senior officials of UP Police.

After meeting the officials of Meerut Police, Gogia said that police of both the states were on the same page on the incident and there was no confusion over it.

Earlier, there were reports that Meerut Police were not buying Delhi Police theory that it was a case of road rage.

Delhi Police Head Constable Sanjeev was shot dead and Constable Sachin suffered bullet injuries on May 15 evening when unidentified men had opened fire at them.

Asked whether it was a case of road rage, Gogia said he would call it a "chance incident" and that the victims and attackers did not know each other earlier.

Gogia, who met Constable Sachin undergoing treatment in a Meerut hospital, said UP STF as well as two teams of Delhi Police is investigating the case.

"The cars came face to face. It was a narrow road. Blood was found inside the car in which our men were travelling as well outside the car," said the Joint CP.

Sanjeev joined Delhi Police in 1998 and was promoted as Head Constable ten years later. In 2009, he was part of a team which was engaged in a gunbattle with Satte-Bittu gang.

He is survived by wife and two children -- a five-year- old son and one-year-old daughter.
