The wife of a constable was found dead here under mysterious circumstances, with the deceased's family alleging foul play, police said today.
According to the constable Rahul, he found his wife Goldi hanging from a ceiling fan in their rented house in Mansarovar Colony when he returned from work yesterday and rushed her to the hospital where she was declared brought dead, police said.
Both natives of Bulandshahr, Goldi (24) had married Rahul (36), a member of Bomb Disposal Squad, three years ago, they said.
Goldi's father Ram Prasad, however, has accused Rahul of killing his daughter over dowry and said the latter had made demands for dowry in the past too, police said.
He alleged that his son-in-law has tried to make the death look like a suicide and has filed a complaint of dowry death against Rahul, they said.
A case has been filed following the complaint and the accused is being interrogated after being taken in custody, SHO Civil Lines said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and an investigation is on, the SHO said, adding that the report of the further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.
