Copper prices were up by 0.37 per cent to Rs 322 per kg in futures trade in evening session today, as speculators indulged in creating fresh position, tracking a firm global trend.

The exchange opened for the evening session as it remained closed in the morning for 'Bakri ID'.

Besides. Pick up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market supported the upside in copper prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month February rose by Rs 1.20, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 322 per kg in business turnover of 8 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in November contracts traded higher by Rs 1.10, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 315.45 per kg in 1,233 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to a firm global trend and uptick in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market.
