Cylindrical case with radiation mark found in Varanasi

A bag containing a cylindrical case with 'Anti Radiation 9 layer' and a danger sign imprinted on its base was found lying in an agricultural land at Maraui village in Cholapur police station area of Varanasi.

Following the recovery on Wednesday evening, senior officials and scientists from New Delhi and state capital Lucknow visited the spot today to examine it.

Varanasi SSP Jogendra Kumar said the cylindrical case was examined by experts of National Investigative Agency and scientists of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Intelligence sleuths and officials of Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad too visited the spot.

Kumar said after preliminary investigations, no critical substance was found inside the case. The case will now be sent for further examination.
 

Investigation is also being carried out to ascertain from where it came from and who brought the bag to the village, which falls under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi.
