A woman and her two sons were found dead inside their house this morning in the Union Territory of Daman following which police have lodged a case of murder against her husband.

The deceased have been identified as Bina Das (28) and her sons, Chandan (7) and Kundan (5). Their bodies were found in a semi-decomposed state from room No.83 of Ramubhai Chawl in the Dabhel area of the town.

According to police, the matter came to light as neighbours detected a foul smell emanating from their room and informed the chawl owner.

The room was locked from outside but looking in through the window, the owner could see three bodies covered with cloth. Subsequently, police was called and they broke open the lock in the presence of a magistrate.

"We have called forensic experts from Valsad to find out the cause of their death," said Inspector Sabastien Devasya.

The room had been rented by Bina's husband Vikas Das, who has been missing for the last two days, police said.

"The family belongs to West Bengal. Neighbours told us that Vikas locked the room two days ago and left. He did not come back. We have not found any poisonous substance. We have not found any major wounds either, but we did spot some blood stains on the bodies," said Devasya.

The bodies had begun to decompose and the deaths seemed to have occurred about two days back, Devasya said. He added that the needle of suspicion in the case points at Vikas and a case has been registered against him.
