Delhi govt rescues, shifts 13 homeless to night shelters

The Delhi government has rescued 13 homeless persons and shifted them to night shelters after it received photos sent by people through a mobile application, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said.

On December 4, the CM had launched an App developed by Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) for rescuing homeless people during the cold nights and putting them at night shelters.

"13 homeless rescued and brought to night shelters on the basis of photos sent by people through App. Together lets ensure no one dies of winter (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.

So far, the government has arranged night shelters and tents to accommodate more than 19,000 people.
 

In total, 198 night shelters and 40 tents have been set up to accommodate around 19,000 persons. If more people come, there will be not be any shortage of space," the Chief Minister had said while inaugurating two night shelters at Geeta Ghat near Kashmiri Gate.
