Press Trust of India Jamshedpur
Visthapith Virodhi Ekta Manch, an anti-displacement organization here today staged a demonstration in front of office of the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner in protest against the proposed Solid Waste Management plant in Khairboni in the outskirts of the steel city.

Dozens of Manch activists laced with traditional weapons staged the demonstration in protest against the under-construction plant.

The leader of the Manch, Madan Mohan said the district administration had assured that the proposed plant would neither affect any villagers nor anyone would be displaced as the plant was to be constructed on a government land meant for social activities.

However, over four acres of private land has already been acquired and affected half of the Samutola village, which comes under the plant area, he alleged.

He said villagers did not have any objection to setting up the plant but it should not be at the interest of innocent villagers.

Madan Mohan claimed that the district administration has deployed police force to continue the construction work despite the opposition of the villagers.
