Hailing contribution of OBC community in development of the city, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her government has taken a number of initiatives to ensure their welfare.
"People from OBC community have been contributing substantially in development and infrastructure works in Delhi. The government is also committed to ensure their welfare," Dikshit said at a gathering here.
The Chief Minister felicitated 12 eminent personalities from the OBC community.
"Whatever is being accomplished in Delhi, the contribution of OBCs has been substantial," she said, adding that it was essential to provide priority as per constitutional provisions to those communities which are lagging behind.
The Chief Minister also listed various initiatives of her government for welfare of the community, including grant of financial assistance for entrepreneurs belonging to the community.
