Elderly woman found living alone in miserable condition in Bikaner; shifted to old-age home: Police

An elderly woman living all alone in a miserable condition in her house was shifted to an old-age home in Malvia Nagar area here on Thursday, police said.

Hemlata Jotwani, who lost her husband in February last year, was being provided food by a distant relative and sometimes by neighbours, they said.

On Sunday, her deteriorated and she started shouting and screaming following which the neighbours gave her food but she refused to eat. The woman appeared to be in her seventies, was lying in her own shit and pee, police said.

SHO of Jawahar circle police station Anoop Singh said that the social workers got her cleaned and bathed with the help of neighbours and she was shifted to an old age home.

 

Earlier, the neighbours also informed her distant relative but he did not arrange any care for her following which the neighbours informed some social workers and the police.
