Suspected militants shot dead an engineer of the Assam Irrigation Department in his office in Dima Hasao district today.
Executive Engineer Rajib Kumar Pathak was shot at from point blank range by two suspected militants after he was called out of his office chamber by them at about 12.45 PM, police said.
The engineer, who was also the sub-divisional officer in-charge of Dyungmukh block of the district, died on way to hospital, police said.
Securitymen have launched an operation to track the killers.
