Two persons, including a sub-inspector with the State Excise Department, were today arrested by Palghar unit of the ACB here for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a transporter.
Superintendent of Police (ACB), Thane Region, Datta Karale said the accused SI Satyavan A Bhagat, attached to the State Excise Department flying squad at Sindhudurgh, had made a demand of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant for not checking his vehicle.
The complainant is a transporter whose vehicles operate on the routes of Gujarat, Goa, Surat etc.

It was decided that an advance of Rs 25,000 would be paid to the officer today as the first instalment of the bribe.
Balkrishna Parshuram Kudav, who accepted the bribe from the complainant on the Bombay-Goa Highway in Dobwadi village of Sidhudurgh on behalf of the excise inspector was caught red-handed by the ACB.
The Inspector was later nabbed, the ACB official said.
Offences under sections 7,13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, were subsequently registered against the duo with the local police station.
