Farmers today dug pits here and sat inside them as a mark of protest against land acquisition in the district for a proposed flyover in Laxmangarh.
"We are protesting against land acquisition in almost eight villages for the construction of a bypass in Laxmangarh. We began a relay strike today in which 35 pits with a depth of three feet have been dug and farmers sat in them," Narendra Batad, member of the Sangharsh Samiti said here.
He said that the depth of the pits would be increased by one feet each day and the protest would be carried out during daytime.

The pits were dug near Banjara basti village, he said.
Batad said nearly 10 km of the proposed bypass would pass through the village.
