Five killed in road accident

Five members of a marriage party, including the bride, were killed and six others injured following a collision between two vehicles in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh today, police said.

The incident occurred at around 9.30 AM near Srirampur town of Mancherial mandal in Adilabad when the four-wheeler carrying the marriage party collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction, police said.

Five persons, including the bride Jayalaxmi (26) and another woman, were killed on the spot, while six others suffered injuries, they said.

The victims hailing from Ongole town of Prakasam district were proceeding to Bellampalli for the marriage when the incident took place, Jaipur police station Sub-Inspector Srilatha told PTI over phone.
 

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Further investigations are on, the SI added.
