Two motorcycle-borne men today allegedly robbed a Forest Department officer of Rs 10 lakh at Chauki Bag Bahadur under Kotwali police station here.

According to SP (city) Alok Priyadarshi, the miscreants were "partially" identified and efforts were on to nab them.

"We had sealed the state border but they managed to escape," he said, adding that habitual offenders, known to indulge in this kind of activities, have been rounded up.

Range Officer Mukesh Meena (50) had gone to a bank.

"After collecting Rs 10 lakh cash and keeping the money in a bag, he was about to get into his car at around 11.30 am when two motorcycle-borne men snatched the bag and fled," DFOSK Shukla said.

Meena and Forest Department guard Padam Singh, who was accompanying him, chased the culprits but they managed to flee.

The bank is hardly at a distance of 50 metres from the Chauki Bag Bahadur police outpost.
