Four persons, including two ITBP personnel, were today injured in a bear attack in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.

Officials said the incident occurred at about noon when a wild bear entered the 'Sunil' camp area of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police based here and first attacked an official working in the local post office and then went on to injure two troops of the force.

They said the bear later also hit a woman living in the ITBP camp and then fled into nearby jungles.

Local police, forest and ITBP teams have fanned in the jungles to look for the bear, they said.

ITBP's 1st battalion is based in Joshimath in the said district as part of their task to guard the Sino-India border running along Uttarakhand.
