Four killed in road accident in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur

Four people, including two women and a minor boy, were killed and 10 others injured when their pick-up van collided with a trailer truck in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district today.

The incident took place near Jali village under Ratanpur police station limits while the victims were returning after paying obeisance at a temple in the area this evening, Ratanpur Station House Officer (SHO) KPS Paikra said.

At least 14 people, including women and children, had gone to visit Marhimata temple at Bhanwartank village from their native place Barbhata of the district in the pick-up van, he said.

On way back, the vehicle collided with a trailer truck coming from opposite direction on a sharp curve near Jali village leaving four people dead on the spot, the SHO said.
 

Those killed were identified as Sushila Srivas (55), Neha Srivas (20), Anshu Srivas (14) and Radhe Srivas, he said.

Soon after getting informed, a police team was rushed to the spot, he said.

The injured were immediately shifted to a local hospital from where they were taken to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) Bilaspur for further treatment, the SHO said.

A case has been registered in this connection, he said, adding that efforts were on to trace the truck driver and helper who fled after the accident leaving behind their truck at the spot.
