The youth wing of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha today said that the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, the council that runs the administration in the Darjeeling hills, should be scrapped and the Gorkhaland demand revived.
"The GTA will not be able to solve the problems faced by the people of the hills. Only a separate state of Gorkhaland can bring happiness and prosperity to the hills," GJM youth wing, General Secretary Priyavardhan Rai told reporters here.
"Hence we are reviving the demand for statehood and will soon write to our chief Bimal Gurung on our demand," he said.
He said that since Gurung was busy with the panchayat elections in the Dooars, the memorandum would be submitted to him after he returned.
