Goa govt approves 11 investment projects

The Goa government has approved 11 projects including five-star hotels, with an investment of about Rs 1,000-crore, which is set to create over 5,500 jobs.

The Investment Promotion Board (IPB) which met here yesterday under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar approved the proposals.

"All together 5,700 jobs would be created as per the proposals," Parsekar told reporters after chairing the meet.

The proposals worth Rs 999.70 crore were cleared in the meeting.

A senior IPB official said the proposal by M/s Ozone Leisure and Resort Private Limited for construction of a five star property in the state was approved. The project will entail an investment of Rs 750 crore.
 

The company earlier had proposed floating pontoon in River Mandovi which had met with opposition. The hotel is expected to bring in 650 direct and 1,500 outsourced employment.

The other private firms are: Niramaya Resort Benaulim Pvt Ltd with investment of Rs 71.84 crore and employment generation of 125 people; Ronil Hotels and Resort - Rs 74 crore and 3,000 jobs, Total Comfort Luxury health - Rs 40.5 crore and 110 jobs and Aswem beach resort - 19.68 crore and 80 jobs.

Besides, there are some industrial projects, which include development of new Agro and IT industrial park at Corlim in Tiswadi at a total cost of Rs 20 crore.
