Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today directed state minister for Minority Affairs Dr Nazrul Islam to submit project proposals for allocation of funds for the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP).
Gogoi asked the minister to submit proposals focusing on education, health and skill development to the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs for implementation during the 12th five year plan, an official release said here.
In a letter, Union Minister for Minority Affairs Dr Najma Heptulla asked Gogoi to ensure submission of project proposals worth Rs 525.26 crore under the MsDP at the earliest.

Heptulla also sought Gogoi's intervention regarding project proposals worth Rs 519.74 crore recommended by her Ministry, which are yet to be implemented.
The Union Minister pointed out that MsDP has been restructured to make it more effective and focused on targeted minorities, the release said.
The unit area of planning has been changed to Minority Concentration Blocks/Towns (MCBs/MCTs) with 118 MCBs and one MCT identified for Assam, the release added.
