Gold and silver found in ponzi company CMD's locker

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha Police today seized 1.385 kg gold and one quintal silver from the locker of the chairman and managing director of a ponzi company, official sources said.

The gold and silver were kept at the locker of Seashore group CMD Prashant Dash at the HDFC Bank branch at Unit-8 here. The seized articles are worth around Rs 90 lakhs, said Crime Branch ADG B K Sharma.

As many as 212 pieces of gold mudra bars made in Switzerland, of different size and weight including 147 pieces and 65 pieces of gold bars weighing 5 grams and 10 grams each respectively were recovered from the bank locker besides 1000 pieces of silver coins weighing 100 grams each, Sharma said.
 

"We will further investigate to find out more about the gold bars and silver coins that bear the logos of HDFC and city-based Bishandayal Jewellers collect details about the company's involvement with these business firms," he said.

Earlier, the EOW officials had seized 1000 silver coins (100 grams each) worth around Rs 44 lakh from the locker of Prashant Dash in the Bamikhal branch of Axis Bank here this year.

He was arrested from Mumbai and lodged at a jail in Odisha.
