Gram sevak wounded, robbed Rs. Five lakh

Armed miscreants today wounded a gram sevak before robbing Rs. Five lakh from him near a locality under Hisua police station area in Bihar's Nawada district, a police officer said.

The miscreants intercepted Karma panchayat gram sevak Sukhdev Sharma near Dayali Bigaha Manjhi tola and struck him with the butt of a pistol before taking Rs. Five lakh before escaping, Hisua police station's Station House Officer (SHO) Umashankar Singh said.

The injured gram sevak has been admitted to a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Nardiganj, he said.

Sharma had withdrawn the amount from a bank for distribution among the beneficiaries under the social security scheme, Singh said.
