Gujarat govt's school enrolment drive ends

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi visited Aat and Tavadi villages located in the coastal regions of Navsari district today to encourage parents to enrol their children in schools.
"We cannot afford indifference towards education. Our society must take up the responsibility for building future of the children of Gujarat through education," Modi said.
"Though the school enrolment drive concluded in three days, a much larger movement, that is, to awake the society for developing an aptitude towards education has not ended," he said.
The state government's effort through this campaign is to make society focus on primary education during the next decade, he added.
Modi said that from the last ten years in a row, the state government is successfully carrying out school enrolment drive on a huge scale.
The world tends to notice the success of Vibrant Gujarat Summit, but the efforts like Kanya Kelavani and Shala Pravesh Mahotsav, which has potential for bringing about far-reaching positive results, are hardly noticed, an official release quoted Modi as saying.
State officials covered all the 32,772 government-run primary schools in 18,000-odd villages in the state during the drive, the release said.
