For the first time in Haryana, a centre to help women in distress was inaugurated today at Karnal.
Centre 'Sakhi', which has been opened under a Central Government scheme, would provide help to sexually, mentally and emotionally harassed women and others, Haryana Women and Child Development Kavita Jain said.
This is the second such centre in the country after Chhattisgarh, she said.
Haryana government is committed to provide security to women, Jain said, adding women police stations have been opened in all 21 districts of the state on August 28.
