Haryana to conduct scientific survey of state's land resources

Press Trust of India Hisar

The grant, sanctioned by the Haryana Kisan Ayog, will help the Haryana Remote Sensing Application Centre (HARSAC), Hisar to undertake the survey work through satellite.

"The survey will suggest which part of the land in the state is suitable for agriculture and which one is suitable for industries and construction purposes," R S Dalal, member secretary of the Haryana Kisan Ayog, said today.

The project, Dalal said, will help making optimum use of state's limited land resources in generating high agricultural yield.

"The need of the hour is sustainable land use planning, which encompasses systematic appraisal and assessment of bio-physical and socio-economic factors in selecting land use options," he said.

The study, to be completed in a period of 18 months, will evaluate land resources and with reference to natural resource characteristics.

It will also examine the pattern and performance of present land use types, besides recommending appropriate scientific land use options, he said.
