Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh government to reconsider its two orders regarding security cover and issue fresh ones within three months.
The order was passed by the Lucknow bench comprising Chief Justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud and Justice D K Arora on the PIL filed by social activist Nutan Thakur.
The petition had challenged the government orders issued in May 2008 and January this year regarding scale of security for MLA, MPs, former MLA or MP, chairmen and vice chairmen of the corporations, zila panchayat chairmen, Nagar Pramukh and others as being inherently faulty, contradictory and discriminatory, Thakur said.
