Head master held for taking bribe from teacher

Head master of a Pusad-based school was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting Rs 7000 towards "part payment" of bribe from a complainant at his officer today.

Ram Dinkar Ballal (52) is the head master of Shri Vasantrao Naik Vidyalaya and he allegedly collects the illegal gratification from the teaching and non-teaching staff of his school at the rate of 3.5 per cent of their salaries, said Satish Deshmukh, Dy SP, (ACB), Yavatmal.

Ballal allegedly threatened the complainant, a teacher, of launching a disciplinary action against him, he said, adding the complainant paid the sum at the said rate of interest for 5-6 months after his appointment, but later refused to pay the amount.
 

Ballal had allegedly demanded Rs 14,000 from the teacher concerned and granted him time of two months to make the payment.

The aggrieved teacher approached ACB following a trap was laid at Ballal's office, ACB added.
