Press Trust of India Coimbatore
: Tension prevailed for some time here today when some Hindu Munnani workers laid a near siege of a police station over removal of banners and flags, put up with permission, in connection with the party's state conference scheduled for tomorrow.

Some workers noticed the missing flags and welcome banners erected by them in Gandhipuram, Cross Cut Road and Sivananda Colony as police removed them last night.

A group of activists then rushed to the Kattur Police station and laid near siege and entered into a heated argument about the removal of the flags, which was put up with police permission, police said.

Police, after some time, said they could put up the flags and banners and the workers then dispersed, they said.
