Home guard shot dead in UP

A home guard was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in Ughaiti area here, police said Friday.

Chhatrapal (42), who was on duty near a petrol pump, was shot dead late on Thursday night by two persons when he tried to stop them for checking, Senior Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar said.

The assailants have been identified and will be arrested soon, he said.

The victim's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
