Humid conditions today persisted in Punjab and Haryana while Mercury rose by several notches above normal in absence of showers in both the states.
In Punjab, Patiala recorded maximum at 36.6 deg C, up by four notches above normal while Amritsar and Ludhiana had highs of 36.7 deg C and 35.4 deg C respectively, MeT department report said today.
Union Territory Chandigarh had a high of 35.8 deg C, up by three degrees above normal.

In Haryana, Mercury in Ambala settled at 35.8 deg C up by three degrees above normal while Bhiwani, Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul recorded maximum at 38 deg C, 38.2 deg C, 35 deg C and 34.2 deg C respectively.
The weather department predicted light to moderate rains at isolated places in the neighbouring agrarian states in the next 24 hours.
