Mercury settles around normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures settled around normal levels in Punjab and Haryana today, with the weather largely remaining dry in both the states.
Union Territory of Chandigarh registered a maximum of 33.5 degrees Celsius, the Met department said.
Among other places in Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum temperatures of 33.6 and 34.1 degrees, up by a degree above normal in both the places.

Temperature in Amritsar settled at 35.2 degrees Celsius, the MeT officials said.
In Haryana, Narnaul recorded a high of 36.5 degrees, up by 2 notches above normal. Ambala, Hisar, Karnal and Bhiwani had highs of 33.4, 36.5, 32.5 and 36.4 degrees Celsius.
In its forecast, the MeT department predicts light to moderate rains at isolated places in the region during the next 48 hours.
