HP ministers hail acquitting of Virbhadra in CD case

Press Trust of India Shimla

The ministers demanded public apology from former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and other BJP leaders for "using foul and immoral means" to fabricate false cases against Singh and his wife.

"The truth has finally prevailed and the verdict has totally exposed the nefarious designs of the Dhumal government which was out and out to implicate Virbhadra in false cases with political motives", the ministers said in a joint statement here.

They said Dhumal and other BJP leaders feared the immense popularity and mass acceptance of Singh and wanted to sideline him from the political scenario by "fabricating" false cases using foul and immoral means to achieve their "selfish" motives.

The BJP leaders who created much hype in the media and public by publicising the CD case should now show moral courage and tender public apology, they added.

"First the people of the state gave a befitting reply to the BJP by ousting it from power and now the judgement of the Special Court was a slap on the face of the BJP leaders," they said.

A court yesterday acquitted Singh of charges of corruption and conspiracy in the much-publicised audio CD case, a day before his swearing in for the office for a record sixth time.
