Husband of village head shot dead, locals protest

A 55-year-old man, husband of a village head, was shot dead allegedly by unidentified persons in Haldhaerpur area following which the locals blocked a highway and pelted stones on police vehicle, police said here.

Shyam Karan Yadav was shot dead in Gulauri village while he was going with his nephew on a motorcycle last evening, they said.

Agitated with the incident the local residents blocked Ballia-Lucknow highway and pelted stones on police vehicle, they said.

Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Dinesh Chandra Dubey has suspended incharge of Ratanpura outpost V K Singh.
