indefinite fast by journalists enters second day

: The indefinite fast by a group of journalists demanding that government accede to their long pending demand to provide land for their fraternity, entered the second day today.

Four journalists, led by Nandakumar of Raj TV and Pradeep Kumar of Win TV had begun the fast yesterday on the premises of the Collectorate,saying there had been no response from various governments over the last 20 years to the appeal by various journalists associations on the matter.

A large number of mediapersons and politicians visited the venue and extended their support.

The associations said that despite land being identified some seven years ago and allottees identified, no action had been taken by the District Collectors.
 

Meanwhile, official sources said it was being examined if the files pertaining was sent to the Government for implementation.
