Insect park in Regional Science Centre Guwahati

Press Trust of India  |  Guwahati

The replicas are magnified scaled up static models of the insects made of fibre glass showcasing them in their individual ambience with the necessary sounds, foliage and lighting, said RSC sources today.

The park, which will be opened to visitors from February 28, will also dispel misconceptions about insects in the minds of the people, the sources said.

On display will be snails, beetles, leeches, millipedes, centipedes, grasshoppers, besides pythons and frogs, in simulated scenes of their environment, the sources said.

The RSC, popularly known as Science Museum, is one of the units of National Council of Science Museums functioning under the union Department of Culture to popularise science among the people of the North East region.
