International Chess tourney in Lucknow from December 25

CAI secretary S K Tiwari said that the tournament would be played over 11 rounds under Swiss system and FIDE rules in which 500 playes would participate.

He said that Rs 15 lakh prize money tournament would be held in various categories along with open group.

The first prize would be of rupees three lakh, whereas players obtaining second and third place would get Rs 1.8 lakh and Rs 1.2 lakh respectively, he said.

Tiwari said that previous champion Gurpreet Pal Singh from Delhi would be defending his championship in the presence of strong players like Obita Francis, Emojong Elijah, both from Uganda and women FIDE Master Assiya Son from Kajakistan.

 

He said that international arbiter Hamid Bin Abdul Majid would conduct the tournament as chief arbiter.
