Union Minister Smriti Irani today sought inputs for ensuring rapid growth of Indian handicrafts exports to penetrate the world market and the measures needed to provide impetus to the sector.
The Textiles Minister chaired a meeting of stakeholders belonging to the handicrafts industry here.
"Inputs were sought from MPs, experts and artisans on giving impetus & ensuring rapid growth of handicrafts in world market," the Ministry of Textiles tweeted.

India's handicrafts exports during the year 2015-16 were Rs 21,457.91 crore with an increase of 6.85 per cent over the previous year.
During the first six months of current financial year, exports to the tune of Rs 13,005.35 crore have been achieved.
