Iranian president to visit Pakistan

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will visit Pakistan soon to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries especially in the power and energy sector.

"Iran values its ties with Pakistan and wants to strengthen relations. Tehran is making serious efforts in this direction," Governor of Iranian province Sistan Baluchestan, Aaqai Ali Osat Hashemi, said during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch.

Hashemi did not specify the exact date of Iranian President's visit, but officials said that visit is expected to take place in the coming month.

The Governor heading an Iranian delegation is in Quetta to hold talks with the provincial government leaders on boosting border trade, investment and economic relations.
 

A meeting between officials of the two countries will be held today.

On Pak-Iran gas pipeline, Hashemi said that Pakistani and Iranian authorities had discussed the project in Islamabad last month.

"Things are moving in right direction," he said.

He said Iran also wants to supply electricity and gas to Balochistan.
