"The Tawi Eco-Herbal Park will provide tourism facilities in the area near Maha Maya forests," J&K's Minister of Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad said during a review of the work at the proposed site.

Set to be developed across a sprawling 133 hectares, the park is a part of the Compensatory Afforestation Managing and Planning Authority (CAMPA)'s plan to encourage tourism in the area.

At the review meeting, forest officials said Rs 1.60 crore had so far been released towards the development of the park adding, the laying of 1,300ft of the 1,500ft walkway proposed in the blueprint had been completed.

The Minister directed the forest officers to take the pathway up to the Maha Maya Temple.

Ahmad also visited Bathandi Compartment No 4 where he directed officials to seek the Forest Protection Force's help to begin fencing of over 2,500ft of forest land.

He also visited the Bahu range and Dingyal Forest Compartment No 63 (Sidhra) to take stock of various CAMPA works.
