Press Trust of India New Delhi
Jeera prices fell by Rs 240 or 1.42 per cent to Rs 16,685 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid lower domestic and exports demand at the spot market.

Further, ample stocks position following higher supplies from the producing belts too fuelled the downtrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March fell by Rs 240, or 1.42 per cent, at Rs 16,685 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,953 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January moved down by Rs 215, or 1.18 per cent, at Rs 17,990 per quintal in 3,387 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
