JK villager awarded for detecting secret cross-border tunnel

Samba Divisional Commissioner Pradeep Gupta presented the cash award, a citation and a memento to Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Chachwal village who was the first to discover the 550-metre-long tunnel last month, officials said here.

Praising the role being played by border dwellers in providing all kind of support to security personnel deployed in the border, Gupta said, "The residents of these villages in the past have also helped security forces by detecting and checking infiltration from across Pakistan."
