A division bench of the Kerala High Court today recused from hearing a batch of cases relating to renewal of bar licenses in the state.
The bench, comprising Justices Antony Dominic and Alexander Thomas avoided hearing the case without assigning any reason.
In April this year, Justice C T Ravikumar had refused to hear 50 petitions relating to renewal of licenses of 418 bars in different parts of the state after an advocate visited him at his residence to talk about the case. The judge also recalled his judgement shortly before it was to be pronounced.
The government had decided not to renew the licenses as they were not upto the standards prescribed.
