Kin of man killed by tiger claim body two days after incident

The family of a man, who had been mauled to death by a tiger in Loni village in Ralegaon here, finally cremated him two days after the incident.

The family had refused to sign papers to conduct a postmortem and had also refused to claim his body till the district administration and forest officials agreed to their demands, officials said.

Officials said that the family had been demanding half of the ex-gratia amount in cash and also a government job for one of the kin.

The family claimed the body after being persuaded by senior district officials, they informed.

The postmortem was conducted at the Government Medical College here, after which the body was cremated by family members in Loni in the evening today, officials said.
