The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) would seek West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's suggestion in its plan to upgrade fire safety arrangements at city markets.
"The KMC is preparing videos of 358 markets spread in the city for the chief minister's ready reference," Member, Mayor-in-Council (Market) Tarak Singh told PTI today.
The chief minister would suggest the necessary steps to upgrade fire safety systems at the markets after watching the videos, Singh said.

"The CM had asked to review arrangements at various markets in the city after the Burrabazar fire in 2012. We have so far covered 100 markets," Singh said, adding that, shop-keepers at several private markets were reluctant to let KMC authorities take the video footage.
"We've called representatives of these markets for a discussion and hope it would soon be resolved," he said.
Out of the 358 markets in the city, 46 were owned by the KMC.
