Newly appointed West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar on Thursday praised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, describing her as hard working.

"She (Mamata) is very hard working. She called me over phone after I was appointed as the Governor. I respect her," Dhankar said at a felicitation ceremony here.

Jharkhand Advocate Association, of which Dhankar is a member, has organised the felicitation ceremony in his honour.

Dhankar will be sworn-in as the new West Bengal governor on July 30.

He will replace Keshari Nath Tripathi, who has completed his tenure as the 19th governor of West Bengal on July 23.

The Centre appointed Dhankhar, a noted Supreme Court lawyer and a former MP, as the West Bengal governor on July 20.
