A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof of a bus stop in Mahim area here, police said today.
Mohammed Amin Mohmmed Husain Shaikh, was found hanged around 1.35 am last night at the Shitaladevi Bus stop, a senior police official said.
"He apparently used his shirt to hang himself," the officer added.
He was spotted by some onlookers, who then alerted to police, the officer said, adding personnel from the Mahim police station took him to a nearby hospital where was declared brought dead.
"The exact reason behind the suicide is yet to ascertain. The man was drunk before taking the extreme step", said Milind Idekar, Senior Police Inspector, Mahim police station.
