Man arrested with 7 kg poppy straw

A man was arrested from Jammu and seven kilogram of poppy straw recovered from his possession by the police.

Sohan Lal, a resident of Nowshera Punjab, was arrested from near Jammu Bus stand when he tried to escape after seeing a police party conducting a surprise search, a police officer said.

He said the police caught hold him of him after a chase.

"On the search of his belongings, seven kilogram poppy straw was recovered from his possession," he said.

He said the accused was arrested and a case under various sections of the NDPS act was registered at Bus Stand police station.
