Police seizes 264 kg of dry ganja worth Rs 20 lakh

Rolugunta police seized 264 kg of dry ganja worth Rs 20 lakh and Rs 10,000 in cash from a four-wheeler whose driver was arrested at Kusarlapudi area in the district's Rolugunta mandal, a police official said.

However, three ganja smugglers including the vehicle owner and two others in the vehicle, fled the spot after noticing the police team, Roluganta police sub-inspector K Venkata Rao said.

The driver has been been identified as M Ramana Babu, while the escaped smugglers are native of the BB Patnam area, the police official said.

He said that, acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a four-wheeler and seized the dry ganja from the vehicle.
 

Police registered cases against the four people under various sections of the NDPS Act and a probe is on to nab the escaped smugglers.
