Man dies, wife injured after his brother throws acid on them

A man died while his wife sustained serious burn injuries when his younger brother allegedly threw acid on them in a fit of rage at Khurja town here today, police said.

Ram Kumar, who runs a grocery shop at Nawalpura locality in the town, had a tiff with his wife Omvati (25) this morning. When his brother Prahlad (30) and his wife Munesh Devi (28) tried to intervene, Kumar, in a fit of rage, threw acid on them, SP (Rural) P K Tiwari said.

Prahlad died on the spot while Devi sustained serious burn injuries, he said, adding that Kumar himself was injured.
 

Both were admitted to a community health centre and their condition is stated to be serious, Tiwari said.

A case has been registered in this regard, he added.
