Man gets 10 yrs RI in rape case

A court here today sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 18-year-old girl two years back.

Additional District and Sessions Judge J S Bhinder held Paramjit Singh, a resident of Nasrala village, guilty of raping the girl and pronounced the verdict on him, prosecution sources said.

The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the convict.

The victim was on her way back home on the evening of February 25, 2011 when she was forcibly taken to a secluded place by Paramjit and raped by him.

Th girl was also badly beaten up when she tried to resist him, the sources said.
