Man held for bid to sell opium

A 36-year-old man was on Monday arrested here for allegedly possessing 4.2 kg of opium worth nearly Rs 17 lakh, police said.

The man, hailing from Rajasthan and working as a private employee here for the past several years, planned to earn easy money by selling the drug, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said.

The man was caught while trying to sell the narcotic in Old Bowenpally area, when he was caught, police said.

The arrested had sourced the contraband from another person, also from Rajasthan, who was absconding, they said.
